In 2002, ECOPET started its industrial activity in the field of recycled PET containers, becoming the first plant of its kind in Uruguay. Since its inception, the company has followed a path of continuous improvement, adopting new equipment and processes that have resulted in recycled materials in good condition. The technology is required not only in the region (Mercosur, Chile, etc.) but also outside the region (USA, Spain and Israel) for high value-added processes.
Aceretech has been supplying PET cleaning lines since 2020. The equipment, installed in 2021, is a complete post-consumer PET bottle cleaning line with a throughput of 1,000 kg per hour. The final product is a clean flake.
The whole solution involves the following processes, such as: belt crusher - bale unloader - mill - flotation drum (several) - hot wash (several) - friction wash (several) - clear wash - label separator - centrifugal drying - silo, etc.

The raw materials are mainly water bottles, PET plastic soft drink and transparent colored soft drink bottles.
They combine cold washing and hot washing with good washing of PET flakes at well controlled temperatures.
At the end of the laundry, you have a water jet washer which uses clean water for the last wash. This is because in other equipment, the water is recyclable and comes from water treatment.
For this project, we designed a special label separator to fit the height of the customer's warehouse. The device is used to separate labels or dust from the final sheet, an important purification process.
The whole system is controlled by automatic PLC with modular design.
By recycling PET bottles, we protect the environment by reducing the consumption of natural resources in the production of virgin PET resin (since it is a petroleum derivative) and by reducing the damage to the ecosystem caused by the extraction of said resources. In addition, by removing bottles from the waste stream, we not only reduce the amount of waste disposed of in final (sanitary) disposal sites, but also ensure that their lifespan is extended, preventing them from ending up in sanitary landfills.
