According to the relevant departments, in 2018, the output of plastic products in China has exceeded 77 million tons, with an output value of nearly 2 trillion. Plastic is a great invention of the 20th century. Its application fields have been expanding and its variety has been increasing. It has greatly facilitated people's lives and become a substance closely related to human life. However, while plastic has brought convenience to human beings, its environmental hazards are also gradually emerging. How to properly dispose of used plastics? How to promote the recycling of plastic products? These questions are worth thinking about. Now, let us share how to recycle used plastics.
First, The two sides of plastic In 2018, China's plastic products production has exceeded 77 million tons, with an output value of nearly 2 trillion, and is increasing every year. Such a huge market also carries the heroic dreams of countless people who strive to work tirelessly. However, perfection cannot exist, nor does God allow it. Likewise, plastic has been hailed as one of the worst inventions of the 20th century, as its serious pollution has gradually been discovered and is gaining more and more attention. Worse still, this pollution is beyond imagination to deal with. At one time, a generation of brilliant chemists worked to achieve the excellent physicochemical properties and durability of plastics, making them widely used in many fields because of their light weight, durability, beauty, and low cost. Surprisingly, it is these excellent properties that have created large quantities of durable, non-corrosive plastic waste. The large amount of plastic discarded after use has become a major environmental hazard.
Second,Treatment of waste plastics In the disposal of municipal plastic solid waste, three methods are currently used: landfill, incineration and recycling. Due to the different national conditions, the solutions are also different. The United States mainly focuses on landfill, while Europe and Japan mainly focus on incineration.
1. Landfill disposal, because plastic products are generally light and not easily decomposed, which will lead to landfills becoming soft foundations and difficult to use in the future.
2.Incineration, because plastics generate a lot of heat, can easily damage the furnace, and the gases produced after incineration can contribute to the warming of the planet. Some plastics emit harmful gases and pollute the atmosphere when incinerated.
Third,Using recycling, the world recycling only accounts for about 15% of the total plastic consumption due to high labor cost, high recycling cost and lack of corresponding recycling channels. However, due to the world's limited oil resources, the recycling of plastics is significant from the perspective of saving the earth's resources. For this reason, countries around the world have invested a lot of human and material resources to develop various key technologies for the recovery and reuse of waste plastics, and are committed to reducing the cost of plastic recovery and recycling.
Fourth, The direction of development of environmentally friendly plastics in the active development of plastic recovery and recycling technology, the use of plastics must also be developed in the direction of disposal or recycling.
1.Minus design research and the development of materials suitable for recycling, the focus of consideration will not be on plastics used to produce individual parts, but on materials that can be used widely. This is a revolutionary change in perception. To facilitate recycling, designers are beginning to avoid using a variety of plastics in product design, and BMW in the United States is preparing to reduce the amount of plastic in its new car designs by 40 percent to facilitate recycling of waste plastics. The world electrical and electronics market has begun to focus on recycling of waste plastics. International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) has begun labeling plastic parts of computers and business machines and developing recyclable plastic electronic parts and simplified disassembly equipment. Product construction, while also taking into account the surface coloring of components, has reduced the amount of external adhesives used to control plastic additives by using recycled process parts and additional components.
2. Biodegradation Research and development of biodegradation has become a research hotspot in the world's plastics processing industry. Researchers want to develop a plastic that can degrade in a microbial environment to deal with the large amount of single-use plastics in farmland, forests and oceans, especially mulch and multi-packaging waste. The goal of the research is to develop a plastic that will retain its name during use and that, once used up, can be broken down by microorganisms in the environment, thus entering the ecological cycle entirely. At the same time, this plastic would be relatively cheap and economical to produce. If it is such a biodegradable plastic, then it can be composted with ordinary bio-waste after use without expensive collection, sorting and recycling costs. In addition, the decomposition products enter the ecological cycle without causing waste of resources. In the research and development of biodegradable plastics, countries around the world have invested a lot of money and manpower in the research. The plastics processing industry generally believes that biodegradable plastics are a new technological issue in the 21st century.
Fifth, With the closing of the 19th National Congress and the rise of the waste plastic recycling industry, the construction of ecological civilization and ecological environmental protection have been the key deployment tasks. In the next few years, the green economy will usher in unprecedented development opportunities. With the increasing amount of waste plastics, the waste plastics recycling industry will become an important chapter of the green economy. The national government has already started the layout, such as domestic waste classification, recycling station layout and other formalized recycling systems have been introduced and implemented.
